Tell us about your home, experience, lifestyle, and what you're looking for in a companion bird.

Schedule Your Virtual Interview
Immediately after submitting your application, you'll receive an automatic email with a link to schedule your virtual interview and home tour. Be sure to check your spam or junk folder if you don't see it.
3.
Virtual Interview & Home Tour
Meet with our team virtually so we can get to know you, talk about bird care and your household, answer questions, and take a quick virtual tour of the home.
4.
Application Review & Approval
After your virtual interview, we'll review everything together. If approved, you'll be ready to schedule a meet & greet with a bird that may be a good match.
5.
Meet, Connect & Adopt
Your meet & greet will take place at our home-based rescue location in Cuyahoga Falls. You’ll spend time getting to know the bird and seeing if the connection feels right. If it’s a match, you can complete the adoption and take your bird home that same day.
6.
30-Day Trial Period
Your 30-day trial begins the day your bird comes home. This gives everyone time to settle in and make sure the match continues to feel right. We're available for support throughout the trial.

Are You Ready to Adopt?
Before applying, please make sure you’re prepared to provide a safe, stable, lifelong home.
✓ You are 18 or older
The primary adopter must be at least 18 years old.
✓ Everyone in your household is on board
All household members should agree to bringing a bird into the home.
✓ You have permission to have a bird
If you rent, make sure birds are permitted by your landlord.
✓ You understand the commitment
Parrots can live for decades and require daily interaction, enrichment, proper nutrition, and ongoing care.
✓ You can provide appropriate housing & veterinary care
You should be prepared for the costs of a properly sized cage, food, toys, enrichment, and avian veterinary care.
✓ You’ve researched the species
We encourage applicants to understand the noise level, lifespan, behavior, space requirements, and care needs of the bird they’re interested in.
Every Bird Goes Home With
Every bird receives DNA sexing and our three-disease testing prior to adoption. Veterinary visits are provided on an as-needed basis.
DNA Sexing
Every bird is DNA sexed prior to adoption so you’ll know their confirmed sex before bringing them home.
Disease Testing
Every bird is tested for PBFD, Polyomavirus, and Psittacosis/Chlamydia prior to adoption.
Veterinary Care
Not every bird requires a veterinary visit. Birds are seen by an avian veterinarian when there is a medical concern, illness, injury, or other reason we feel an exam is needed.
✂️ Complimentary Nail Trims for Life
All birds adopted from LLSBR receive complimentary nail trims for life! Just contact us to schedule a quick appointment at our home-based rescue location in Cuyahoga Falls. When you arrive, we’ll come out to your car, bring your bird inside for their nail trim, and return them to you when we’re finished. Keeping the appointment quick and quiet helps minimize unnecessary stress for your bird.
Preparing for Your New Bird
Your bird’s cage must be set up at home before adoption day, and you’ll need to bring an appropriately sized, secure carrier for the trip home.
Still need a cage? We sometimes have gently used cages available for purchase. Sizes and availability vary, so feel free to ask us what we currently have.
Before your meet & greet, make sure you have an appropriately sized cage, safe perches and toys, proper nutrition, and everything your new bird will need to settle in comfortably.
Your bird will go home with a starter supply of their current food, all toys and from their cage, DNA and disease testing results, available veterinary records, care information, and any special instructions specific to them. We’ll make sure you have the information you need to help your new bird settle in comfortably.
If there are any medications, special-care instructions, or other important information specific to your bird, we’ll go over those with you before you leave.

How do I adopt a bird?

How long does the adoption process take?
Every application is different, but we work to move qualified applicants through the process as quickly as possible while making thoughtful matches.
Can I apply for a specific bird?
Yes! You can apply for a specific bird or let us know you’re open to finding the best match based on your lifestyle and experience.
Do you adopt outside of Ohio?
Yes. But we never ship birds for any reason, so you would need to visit for an in person meet and greet.
What is the Trial Adoption Period?
The Trial Adoption Period gives both you and your new companion time to adjust in a real home environment while we continue providing guidance and support.
Why do you collect the adoption fee before the trial period?
Our Trial Adoption Period is not a foster program. The bird is adopted from the beginning, allowing them to start settling into what we hope is their permanent home. This helps reduce repeated moves, provides stability for the bird, and ensures adopters are fully committed while still giving both the bird and adopter time to confirm it’s the right match. If the placement isn’t successful during the trial period, the return process is outlined in the adoption agreement.
What if the adoption isn't the right fit?
If the placement isn’t successful, we’ll work with you to safely return the bird to Little Loud Soul.
During the 30-Day Trial Adoption Period: You may choose to receive a 50% refund of the adoption fee or apply your adoption toward a different available bird.
After the 30-Day Trial Period: The adoption fee is non-refundable, but you may choose a different available bird within 30 days of the bird’s return.
Can I foster a bird if I'm hoping to adopt it?
Our foster program exists to provide temporary homes for birds in need—not as a way to “try out” a bird before adopting. If you’re ready to welcome a bird into your family, we encourage you to apply through our adoption program, which includes a 30-day Trial Adoption Period and ongoing support.
Are your birds vet checked?
Every bird receives an initial health evaluation and any necessary care before adoption. We’ll discuss any known medical history with you.
Will my bird come with paperwork?
Whenever available, you’ll receive medical records, hatch certificates, DNA results, previous records, and any other documentation we have.
Will my bird come with a cage?
Some birds may come with their current cage that they were surrendered with. Others may require adopters to provide an appropriate cage before bringing the bird home.
How are adoption fees determined?
Adoption fees help cover veterinary care, food, housing, enrichment, and the ongoing costs of rescuing birds. Fees vary based on species, age, and individual needs.
Can I return my bird if life changes?
Yes. Every adopter must contact us first if they can no longer care for their bird. We are committed to every bird for life and ask that they be returned to our rescue.
Can I rehome a bird I adopted from you?
No. Birds adopted through Little Loud Soul Bird Rescue must be returned to us if they ever need a new home.
Do you offer payment plans?
No. Adoption fees are due in full at the time the adoption is finalized and before the Trial Adoption Period begins. We do not offer payment plans or holds based on future payments.
Why don't you offer foster-to-adopt?
We believe birds deserve stability. Rather than moving from home to home while someone decides, our adoption process is designed for people who are ready to make a lifelong commitment. Our Trial Adoption Period provides time to ensure the match is right while giving the bird the opportunity to begin settling into its permanent home.
