What We Feed at Little Loud Soul

We believe good nutrition starts with variety. The birds in our care come to us with different backgrounds, preferences, and nutritional needs, so every bowl may look a little different. Here’s a look at the foods we use at Little Loud Soul and how they fit into our feeding routine.

What's in Our Bowls?

There isn’t one food that makes up our entire feeding routine. We use a combination of quality pellets, fresh foods, grains, legumes, and other appropriate foods to provide variety based on each bird’s individual needs.

🥣 Pellets

A quality formulated pellet provides a nutritional foundation for many of the birds in our care. The specific pellet may vary depending on the individual bird and their needs.

🥕 Fresh Chop

We regularly offer a rotating variety of vegetables, leafy greens, grains, legumes, herbs, and other bird-safe fresh foods.

🌾 Cooked & Dry Mixes

We use appropriate grain, vegetable, pasta, and legume-based mixes to add additional textures and variety to our birds’ meals.

🌰 Seeds, Nuts & Extras

Seeds, nuts, and other favorites have a place too. We use them appropriately for treats, training, foraging, enrichment, or as part of an individual bird’s diet.

A FRESH START

Every bird that comes into our care has a different history, and many arrive eating diets that may not meet their long-term nutritional needs. While they’re with us, we work to gradually transition them toward a balanced, varied diet using quality pellets, fresh foods, and other appropriate options. We take things at the bird’s pace, making sure they continue eating while learning to recognize and enjoy healthier foods.

LITTLE LOUD SOUL TIP

Don’t be afraid to try a different pellet size if your bird isn’t interested in the one you’re offering. Sometimes changing the shape or size makes a surprisingly big difference.

Our Fresh Chop

Fresh chop is a regular part of the feeding routine at Little Loud Soul. We prepare a colorful mix of bird-safe vegetables, leafy greens, grains, legumes, herbs, sprouts, and other fresh ingredients, rotating what we use to provide plenty of variety. Every batch may look a little different, and that’s the point! Offering different colors, flavors, and textures helps keep mealtime interesting while giving our birds the opportunity to explore and enjoy a wide range of nutritious foods.

Treats, Training & Foraging

Not everything we offer has to be part of the main meal.

Seeds, nuts, and other high-value foods can be incredibly useful for training, building trust, encouraging foraging, and providing enrichment. We choose treats based on the individual bird and use them as part of the bigger picture rather than labeling individual foods as simply “good” or “bad.”

Walnuts • Almonds • Pistachios • Pumpkin Seeds • Sunflower Seeds • Other Bird Favorites

THE BEST PELLET IS ONE YOUR BIRD WILL ACTUALLY EAT!

We have brands we trust, but we’re also realistic. Some birds come to us after eating the same food for many years and won’t immediately accept something new. Our goal is to safely transition each bird toward a healthier, balanced diet, not force a sudden change.
